PERIDOT: AUGUST'S BIRTHSTONE

Peridot is a green lime colored stone.  Peridot out of all the popular gemstones has a strong love it or hate it reaction.  While the color of the stone may cause extremes, how the stone is formed is very interesting.  Peridot comes from both lava (molten rock) and outer space.

THE ANCIENT GEMSTONE

Peridot has been admired for years.  In Egyptian times, the peridot was known as the stone of light.  People also believed that having this gemstone would help prevent nightmares.  The stone is seen as a beacon of light in the darkness.

THE LOW-DOWN

Peridot is a rich yellow-green and can be found in many types of jewelry.  It is an affordable gemstone.  It is an amazing gemstone that has been even found on meteorites that where formed during the creation of our solar system and in the "stardust" of comet tails.
