Seiko Prospex Celebrates Ocean Conservation AT The 2025 PETER BENCHLEY OCEAN AWARDS™

Baltimore, MD – May 8, 2025 – Seiko is honored to serve as a sponsor of the 2025 Peter Benchley Ocean Awards™, a prestigious event recognizing outstanding achievements in ocean conservation. The awards ceremony, held on May 8, 2025 in partnership with Aquarium Conservation Partnership, at the National Aquarium in Baltimore, Maryland, coincides with the 50th anniversary of the release of the Jaws movie, underscoring the lasting impact of Peter Benchley’s work on marine conservation and his success as writer of the best-selling novel and movie. Wendy Benchley co-founded the awards to honor the legacy of her late husband and continues to shine a light on individuals across various marine disciplines demonstrating excellence–providing solutions to the challenges faced by our ocean.

As a brand committed to ocean conservation, Seiko has a long-standing history of supporting initiatives that protect and preserve marine ecosystems. Through collaborations with various organizations, Seiko has contributed to conservation programs around the world to protect and preserve the oceans now and for future generations.

The 2025 Peter Benchley Ocean Awards™ honor individuals and organizations making significant contributions to ocean conservation. This year’s awardees include:

  • Ocean Hero Award, Jason Momoa, actor, entrepreneur, filmmaker, and UNEP Advocate for Life Below Water (accepted by Jason Dibble and Jerrod Freund from Boomerang Water)
  • Excellence in National Leadership, The Republic of Chile, accepted by Her Excellency Ambassador Paula Narváez, Ambassador and Permanent Representative of Chile to the United Nations
  • Excellence in Policy, Brenda Mallory, former Chair of the Council on Environmental Quality
  • Excellence in Science and Exploration, Dr. Dawn Wright, Chief Scientist of Esri
  • Excellence in Sustainable Business Solutions, Dr. Fisk Johnson, Chairman and CEO, SC Johnson
  • Excellence in Media, Netflix’s “Our Oceans,” executive produced by James Honeyborne, Barack Obama, and Michelle Obama
  • Excellence in Action, Chairwoman Violet Sage Walker, Northern Chumash Tribal Council
  • Christopher Benchley Youth Award, Shalise Leesfield, teen conservationist

Their dedication and innovative solutions inspire us all to take action in safeguarding our oceans. Each of the awardees was honored with a Seiko Prospex timepiece to celebrate their efforts.
