Stop and Pick the Strawberries

Stop and Pick the Strawberries

A Redland Treat

Knaus Berry Farm is legendary. I had heard of this place since I moved to South Florida 14 years ago, but I'd never been. Knaus Berry Farm has been open since 1956, when it started as a simple berry stand. Nowadays, it boasts a u-pick strawberry and tomato farm, shelves full of produce, jams, jellies, ice cream, shakes and famous cinnamon rolls.

Located in Redland, a subdivision of Homestead, FL, the farm has rows of strawberry bushes where adults and kids alike can fill up a little green crate or a larger plastic bucket with as many strawberries as it can hold. You pay by the pound. With three kids in tow, we picked so many beautiful, red strawberries.

We also ordered a whole boxful of warm, delicious cinnamon rolls. They are perfect - just a touch of crisp on the very outer edges, fluffy, warm and gooey on the inside. The cinnamon is not overpowering, but appropriately present. The wonderful cinnamon smell wafts in the car as we drive home, and we won't soon forget this little farm after we've spooned the last bit of homemade strawberry jam from the bottom of the mason jar.
