Finally after a long wait, the SEIKO SUN065 PADI is here!  This watch looks good, no scratch that, really good.  We get to see a lot of Seiko's and many models don't feel right.  I'm looking at you re-craft series.  If there is one thing that Seiko does well, it's diving.  Their dive watches are incredible.  No most aren't these diving computers.  They are simple with style and power.

 

Earlier this year, Seiko re-launched the "turtle" series.  The watch collection is a huge hit.  So much so that the watch models have been sold out for most of the year.  There is a new Seiko PADI turtle watch coming out, model SRA021.  This watch looks sharp and has all the fuzzy feelings with a nice price.

 

With all of the Turtle excitement, the SUN065 got lost in the shuffle.  The watch case and design is based on last year's 50th anniversary GMT model.  I always kinda liked the watch, but was never crazy about it.  Now, we just got in the PADI version of the GMT model and boy is this watch cool.  It is everything a dive watch should be.  Yeah, it is a little more money then the turtle PADI, but it is a nice professional dive watch.

The Seiko PADI Kinetic SUN065 comes with the powerhouse caliber 5M85 Kinetic quartz movement.  When fully charged, this movement has a 6 month power reserve.  The devil is in the details as they say.  Besides being a nice movement the face and case are nothing to ignore.  Seiko's Lumibrite coating help you see the watch in the darkest places in the ocean.  The bezel turns with ease, even with diver's gloves, because of the deep groves.  Even the crystal is a sapphire crystal with an antiglare coating.  The watch has a 47.5 mm case, but it really doesn't feel that big, it feels like home.
